Tapisha Kaur
I am a licensed and registered Counsellor with Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (LKM) and have completed my Masters in Professional Counselling from Monash University Malaysia. I also hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology, HELP University Malaysia. Currently, I provide individual therapy via online and in person to children and adults with a range of emotional issues. My therapy style is present, client-centered and practical with a cup of tea in my hand. As the saying goes, ‘A teapot shared is a problem halved’.
My prior work experiences included working with Special Needs children and their unique psychosocial concerns, and conducted mental health programmes among the refugees and local communities in Malaysia. One of the highlighted topics was on ‘Emotion Regulation’ for these marginalised populations. I believe that mental health should be accessible to all, hence my continuous efforts in mental health awareness which can be seen through my involvement in educational initiatives in the form of virtual and in-person workshops, podcasts, and articles on therapy, anxiety, and other mental health topics. In my spare time, I share mental health content through my professional instagram account called @therapisha. Give it a look!
My main approaches that I am confident in using with clients in my counselling sessions include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), PCT and a mixture of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Reality & Choice Theory. The theoretical orientation I use is dependent on the clients needs & concerns.
