“Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.”
Currently, I am the Clinical Director at BetterMind: Modern Psychology and Counseling, and I am a licensed counselor who works closely with adults and adolescents in overcoming their emotional and behavioural issues.
I work collaboratively with clients to identify and address their specific counselling needs. Whether it’s managing anxiety, coping with life transitions, navigating relationships, or improving self-esteem, we explore the underlying factors contributing to their current challenges and work towards finding effective solutions. As you navigate through your concerns, my counselling room is a space where you can feel safe, heard and supported-with the counselling space’s teddybear, Paddington, cheering you on too! Remember, your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change. My therapy style is solutions-oriented, client-centered, practical, warm and present.
My journey into the counselling realm began when I worked with local and international NGOs in Malaysia and private practices. One of my stints was at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), where I provided psychosocial support to refugee women who were exposed to sexual and gender-based violence, and refugees in the resettlement pipeline. My other previous experiences include spearheading the counselling sector in a well-known Malaysian NGO, and provided group counselling on anxiety-related support. These experiences affirmed my passion in playing a supportive role in the development of individuals’ emotional well-being. In addition, in my spare time I contribute to mental health content through my instagram pages @ms_mentalhealth and @bettermindkl where I share insights on relatable topics that people can apply and share. Give it a look!
I have completed my Masters of Professional Counseling from Monash University, graduating with High Distinction. I am proficient in English and Malay. I am open to work with clients of all ethnicities, orientation, and spiritual practices. My therapeutic approaches that I orient towards constitute Person-centered Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Focused Therapy (SFBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Emotions Focused Therapy (EFT). The theoretical orientation I employ with my clients is dependent on the clients specific needs and concerns.
You are a warrior, keep going!”
